Once home to Rupert Murdoch and his Adelaide newspaper The News, the original building was demolished in 1997 with the vision of rebuilding a Hotel that would complement the surrounding streetscape and be ahead of its time as an Art Hotel. Today the Hotel stands proudly on one of Adelaide’s most beautiful and cultural tree-lined boulevards within walking distance to major tourist attractions, shopping precincts, restaurants, Adelaide Convention Centre and educational institutions.
