Golf in the Yarra Valley
Not one, but two exceptional golf courses ornament the flowing undulations of The Sebel Heritage Yarra Valley.
The first, designed by golfing icon Jack Nicklaus, is complemented by the newly opened course to the north by artisan designer, Tony Cashmore. Each offers a unique but equally engaging experience for golfers of any skill level.
St John Course
"This was no flat, uninspiring paddock. Nature gave me a great start here with a landform that allowed me to create a wonderful golf course for Heritage members..." Jack Nicklaus
The immense experience of perhaps the world's most influential golfer, Jack Nicklaus is reflected in the design of the St John Golf Course.
Continually rated in the Top 50 courses in Australia, its sculptured fairways form a stunning vista at The Heritage's entrance and extend 6670 metres to the banks of the Yarra River. Taking advantage of the Yarra Valley's natural contours, dazzling water features, strategically placed slopes and mounds make every hole a quest of its own.
The Henley Course
"Nature has taken her course and we have harnessed her. The bunkers are wild - the course is a sturdy, ever changing and exhilarating place..." Tony Cashmore
Stroll over the bridge across the Yarra River to discover The Henley - a traditional links course designed by Tony Cashmore in consultation with Nicklaus Design.
Weaving through oxbow meanders carved by the river, the Henley rises alongside the Wannandyte state forest to the knoll from which the Homestead surveys the Heritage's spectacular landscape. Some 6353 metres in length, this Par 72 layout also boasts the longest Par 4 Golf Hole in Australia - the 16th. A true test to golfing character and skill.
The Clubhouse
The focal point of The Heritage Golf & Country Club and capitalising on unsurpassed views across lush fairways and the immaculate greens of St John to the Great Dividing Range beyond is the Clubhouse.
Surrounding the Clubhouse is the terrace complete with deck chairs and tables to allow you to take in the surrounds of the Yarra Valley. Inside the Clubhouse is equipped with the Nicklaus Bar, a Members Lounge, comprehensive Pro Shop, a Cart Barn housing a complete fleet of maintained golf carts and extensive change rooms.
Upstairs are 2 magnificent private rooms ideal for Corporate Golf Day entertaining or that private dinner, both with extensive views over the Valley and golf course below.
